Onshape is the only company in the world 100% focused on cloud and mobile CAD, offering the first professional 3D CAD system that lets everyone on a design team simultaneously work together using any web browser, phone, or tablet. Breaking away from the traditional
model of desktop-installed CAD, Onshape has data management and collaboration built in at its core. For the first time, the CAD system and CAD data live in one place in the cloud, and are never copied anywhere. Everyone on a design team sees and works on the same master CAD data at all times, avoiding confusing checkouts, file copies, and overwriting each other’s work. Full-cloud Onshape also eliminates the hassles of installations, license codes and servers, service packs, and add-on PDM systems. Every Onshape user always works with the same version of Onshape – the latest version.
Companies worldwide rely on Onshape today to speed up the design of consumer electronics, mechanical machinery, medical devices, machine parts, industrial equipment, and many other products. Onshape’s Free Plan also makes it the ideal CAD choice for students and educators to collaborate inside and outside the classroom.
Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Onshape includes key members of the original SolidWorks team plus elite engineers from the cloud, data security and mobile industries.
Onshape is the first full-cloud 3D CAD system. It runs in a web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) on any computer (Windows, Mac,Linux, Chromebook).
There is no software to download, install, or license. Further, every user in the world works on the same version of Onshape – the latest. When collaborating, there is never an issue with data incompatibility.
FAMILIAR PART MODELING,
WITH A NEW TWIST
Onshape introduces a new approach to creating assemblies. Higher level mates enable users to build assemblies with one-third the mating relationships of traditional CAD. This results in assemblies that are are easier to build, manage and edit. Complex mechanisms can be animated through their complete range of motion.
Teams can access the same documents simultaneously. Colleagues can work on the same parts, assemblies, and drawings at the same time. Access is controlled by the owner of the document, and each user sees visual indicators when others are working within the same document.
Team members can choose to create separate “branches” of a design and work on new design improvements individually. Since Onshape stores these variations within one document, colleagues can merge the branches, saving rework by combining the best ideas. Onshape allows users to view each other’s screens while working together in a document. This real-time “follow mode” improves communication during design reviews and helps add clarity when making design changes.
“It was so cool when I first imported my SolidWorks files into Onshape. There was no computation holdup. Things are so much
faster. Onshape is going to really change how I approach CAD modeling as a whole.”
“The thing I love about CAD in the cloud is that I don’t need to have a heavy duty processor to get into my projects. I haven’t noticed any difference between using Onshape with a fast computer and a not-so-fast computer.”
“The fact that my colleague and I can both be designing at the same
time is really nice. We wouldn’t be able to do that with our single
SolidWorks seat. Onshape makes collaboration a lot easier. Even
when only one of us is designing at a time, we are able to bounce
ideas off each other in the moment.”
